It is sometimes said that you only know the importance of something when you have lost it,or the worst that could happen has already happened to it. Though it is true in many cases, India got to know the truth of it in a very bad way in a winter morning in the year of 1884. India with its newfound industrial advancements was going fast paced and all guns blazing into the industrial powerhouse title. Foreign investments were flowing in. Every state was trying to outdo others, and it was a race of who could be faster in the industrial development and how many industries could a state or a central government set up. Though the world at that time was just waking up to the various environmental impacts and coming up with laws and amendments to curb them and also to see that the advancements of the industries don’t lead to huge environmental damages and make a living of the people who the industries are supposed to serve completely impossible. India, on the other hand,is a newly developing nation did not have any such laws to curb or make sure that the industries are being set up in an environment-friendly way and is in no way being a detriment to the surroundings. And it paid a big prize for that.
